What is Our Teaching Philosophy?

At Long Bay Primary we believe in a learning environment where positive self esteem is key to successful learning and students experience success. We treasure a learning environment where students are encouraged to take risks and demonstrate perseverance and resilience, within a curriculum that makes meaningful connections with the students' lives.

Initiative, independence, cooperation and responsibility are virtues that are fostered, as are the development of effective partnerships between home and school.

Teaching and learning programmes are enhanced through high quality professional development of the teaching staff. Meaningful data analysis informs the teaching and learning programmes, while the effective use of information communication technology (ICT) contributes to children's learning.

What Do We Value?

At Long Bay Primary our values are centered around the following five keywords, as demonstrated through our charter goals, philosophy, priorities and our actions:

"Teachers at Long Bay are very enthusiastic and like to have a lot of fun. They go out of their way to organize educational and enjoyable activities to keep the kids going through out the year. For example when Mrs Masefield and Mrs Couch dressed up as Thing 1 and Thing 2 from 'The Cat in the Hat' during Bookweek."
